McKibben Music, located on the square for the past 18 years, can introduce you to your inner musician. Wander inside and be surrounded by beautiful acoustic and electric guitars, drums, electric and upright pianos. You can also hire an instructor to learn to read and play music through weekly half-hour lessons, joining the 250 students practicing guitar, piano, bass, drums, mandolin, banjo, violin and vocals.
“Music is one of the greatest languages to learn,” said Mack McKibben, a professional musician and owner of McKibben Music. “It makes a difference in a person’s life if they can pursue music, and it makes other people happy too.” McKibben Music opened in 2007 with a mission for musical education and enjoyment.
“You can come here, get away from the rat race out there, and learn how to play a few cords with our expert instructors,” he said. If you schedule an introductory lesson on the new instrument you’re buying, your experience is ‘made in Covington’.
Ann Wildmon is the owner of WildArt Gallery on the square. She is a professional portrait painter and muralist for the last 45 years – and consults on sets for theaters, movies, and films.
Inside the gallery is an inspired collection by a variety of local artists who are metalsmiths, photographers, wood turners, leather and copper craftspeople, or painters and potters.
“We have an amazing group of talented artists we represent. It’s different every time people come back,” said Ann Wildmon, owner of WildArt Gallery. “You feel like you’ve been artistically fed. People like to come and get inspired.” All the artists are selected to inspire your own spark of creativity!
