Sharpen your fangs because the vampires are hovering this Halloween in Covington! Go on a ghost tour. Watch Halloween-themed cinema in the park, drink apple spice teas, pumpkin-flavored coffees and enjoy trick-or-treating at Legion Field.
Horror is big business in the film industry. In Covington, you can visit the intersection of normal everyday life with scary specters and heinous haunts (think The Vampire Diaries). Covington is haunted all year long. We just pull the sheets off the ghosts each Halloween season to expose visitors to the hallowed history and vibrant culture that’s here in the Hollywood of the South™.
The ethereal Covington Ghost Tour has been an orb of light in Covington’s nightlife since 2014. Your tour guide is a member of the East Georgia Paranormal Group. Paranormal experts associated with The Atlantic Paranormal Society have investigated many of the sites you will visit. See videos of encounters and eyewitness testimonies that may be shared with the group. Dress comfortably with shoes for walking the approximate 2.5-hour tour, though if spikes of paranormal activity occur, it could go longer. Guests may choose to make it as long or shorter as their needs require.
As you visit haunted sites, you also will visit filming locations for television shows such as In the Heat of the Night, Dukes of Hazzard, and The Vampire Diaries.
The tour begins at the WildArt Gallery at 1105 Washington St. on the Historic Covington Square. Tours are available daily, Monday-Friday, 12-8 pm, and 9 am on Saturday and Sunday. Get deeply insightful kernels of Covington history and see beautiful, historic places while getting some exercise, fresh air and meeting a few new friends (some of whom may be sensed and unseen). Special tours can be arranged. $30/person regularly scheduled tour.
Join Cinema Saturday to enjoy two FREE all-ages movies on the Square. The supernatural fantasy animated film Hotel Transylvania (2012) stars Dracula, who operates a high-end resort away from the human world. He goes into protective mode when a boy discovers the resort and falls for the count's teenaged daughter.
The slapstick comedy, Scooby Doo (2002) stars the Mystery Inc. gang. After the group’s breakup, they’re alone, but are individually brought to an island resort to investigate strange goings on.
Arrive at the Square early to visit the stores around town and to haunt a restaurant for something to eat while you enjoy the movies. Bring a blanket or chairs for seating.
Kids are going to love the inflatables, the trick-or-treating for candies, and a good, safe time for families on this All Hallows Eve.
